Position Title: Head of Early Childhood
Reports To: Head of School
Supervises: Assistant Head of Early Childhood, Infant, Toddler, and 2s Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers
Position Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Administrative Position

Job Summary: Holy Spirit Episcopal School seeks a dynamic and experienced Head of Early Childhood to lead its early learning program. This role is a key member of the Administration Team, responsible for ensuring a high-quality, developmentally appropriate, and nurturing environment for the youngest learners. The Head of Early Childhood oversees the daily operations, licensing regulations, curriculum implementation, faculty supervision, and strategic development of the Infant, Toddler, and 2s programs.

Essential Duties:

Leadership & Administration

  • Provide visionary leadership to the Early Childhood program in alignment with the school’s mission and values.
  • Supervise and support the Assistant Head of Early Childhood, Lead Teachers, and Assistant Teachers, ensuring high standards of teaching and care.
  • Partner with the Head of School and administrative team on strategic initiatives, accreditation processes, and policy development.
  • Develop and manage the Early Childhood program’s budget, resources, and admissions strategies.
  • Manage enrollment, class formation, and ongoing class changes in line with stages of child development.
  • Ensure compliance with child care licensing regulations and maintain all required standards to uphold the school’s licensing status.
  • Foster strong relationships with parents and serve as the primary point of contact for Early Childhood families.
  • Work with the Advancement Team and the Business Office to develop and adhere to processes and standards that ensure effective and efficient operation.

Curriculum & Program Development

  • Ensure a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with best practices in early childhood education.
  • Support faculty in implementing engaging, hands-on learning experiences that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Maintain compliance with all licensing and safety regulations, ensuring a secure and nurturing environment for children.
  • Lead professional development through early childhood staff meetings to enhance instructional quality.
  • Faculty Supervision & Development:
  • Recruit, train, and mentor Early Childhood staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive culture.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and provide meaningful feedback to teachers.
  • Coordinate professional learning workshops and growth opportunities.
  • Support faculty in addressing classroom management, curriculum implementation, and student needs.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with parents, fostering open communication and trust.
  • Organize parent education sessions, conferences, and events that support family engagement.
  • Represent the Early Childhood program in school-wide events, admissions efforts, and community outreach.
  • Contribute to the school community as a whole by working with the Leadership Team to align the Early Childhood division with the Primary, Lower, and Middle School divisions.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in early childhood education, including leadership or administrative roles.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in early childhood education, child development, and child care licensing standards with the ability to ensure full compliance with all regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold and maintain state childcare licensing requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Google products (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.) for administrative and collaborative work.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and inspire a team of educators.
  • A deep commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Embodies the values and traditions that go along with the identity of an Episcopal school (preferred).
