Safe and Supported Now, Smart Decisions Forever
Why does social-emotional health matter? When students have the skills they need to understand and manage their inner feelings, they are empowered to make wise decisions for their bodies, hearts, and minds. They are also far better able to achieve goals, feel empathy for others, maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
For these reasons and more, Holy Spirit Episcopal School places a high priority on social and emotional well-being. One way we do this is through our Social and Emotional Learning Program, in which teachers guide and encourage students in developing five key competencies:
• Self-Awareness
• Self-Management
• Social Awareness
• Relationship Skills
• Responsible Decision-Making
Ultimately, developing these skills now helps HSES students succeed in high school and beyond as they become knowledgeable, responsible, caring humans who are fully engaged in their schools and communities.
