In a time where school art and music often fall by the wayside, HSES students get to dive deep into the creative world, discovering their own interests and talents while building skills that will enrich their entire lives.
Through classes that explore singing, theater, instruments, and studio art, students learn to solve problems; work individually and together; and experience both innovation and inspiration.
Performing Arts
Each student from Primary 3 through eighth grade has the opportunity to celebrate the arts and share their gift with others throughout the academic year. Whether it’s kindergarteners participating in a Christmas pageant, Lower or Middle Schoolers performing a play, Primary School students hosting a sing-a-long, or various other art shows, performances, and gatherings, each HSES student has an opportunity to shine!
Music Studies
Students enjoy robust musical training in Lower and Middle School, exploring a wide variety of genres, learning basic music theory and ear training, developing their voice in choir and theater, and receiving individualized instruction in group piano lessons to enhance auditory and instrument skills.
Visual Arts
All of our Lower School and Middle School students study the principles of art and design and create art in a wide variety of media, from printmaking and pastels to acrylics and ceramics. Various student pieces are displayed online and throughout the school’s hallways, culminating with a schoolwide art show each spring.
