We welcome students and their families into our tightly knit community, where children find individual ways to both fit in and stand out—in the classroom, on the stage or the athletic field, during trips and adventures, and in the wider community.
Our student life is rich and well-rounded. At HSES, the days are filled with opportunities to learn broadly and exuberantly: About math and science and literature, but also about art and music and theater. Through play, healthy competition, and athletics—and through service, heartfelt cooperation, and worship. From the first moments of Early Bird Care to the close of the last practice or rehearsal, HSES students live and learn in a supportive space where our community members feel safe to reach high, try something new, learn from experience, and build on honest mistakes. And because they are empowered to explore beyond their comfort zones, HSES students find new passions, talents, and friendships in exciting and sometimes unexpected places.

big advantages of
a small school?
All the teachers have real conversations with the children because they have the time. In that smaller environment, the kids are able to talk through what they’re thinking or questioning.

As a small-sized school, we can put all the kids on a bus and take them out to Galveston or to the food bank. We can immerse them all in the Urban Edventure Leadership Program or offer extraordinary trips. Other schools can’t do that for everyone.
