Adventures Today, Resilience Forever

HSES’s Ecolink Outdoor Education program takes our deeply engaging classroom learning to the next level. In third, fourth, and fifth grades, students enjoy outdoor adventures in Texas that complement their grades’ science and history studies. Starting in sixth grade, students travel farther afield, learning through wilderness treks, marine investigations, and mountain adventures in other states. Along the way, they develop a deeper love and respect for our environment, embrace all types of challenges, and grow into even better friends and leaders.

 Camp Allen (3rd grade)

Our third graders enjoy their first Ecolink trip during three days at Camp Allen near Navasota, TX, where they learn, enjoy, and explore in the Piney Woods.

Camp Eagle (4th & 5th grade)

Fourth and fifth graders spend four days at Camp Eagle in West Texas, combining outdoor experiences with interactive, hands-on learning activities.

New Mexico’s Camp Glorieta (6th grade)

Sixth-grade adventures at New Mexico’s Camp Glorieta involve zip lines, ropes courses, mountain biking, overnight kayak trips, rock climbing, and, of course, s’mores around the campfire!

Catalina Island Marine Institute (7th grade)

In seventh grade, students travel to the Catalina Island Marine Institute in Southern California to explore marine ecology through snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, and hands-on lab investigations.

Noah’s Ark Adventure (8th grade)

Through Noah’s Ark Adventure, our eighth graders participate in an exciting six-day rafting, hiking, and camping trip in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.
